The Role of the Returning Volunteer
Welcome back AYUDA volunteers! Return to any
one of our new programs to become leaders and role models for our
new volunteers.Return volunteers will be expected to take on new positions
of leadership and play a more pivotal role in the organization and
running of the Country Program. You will help the AYUDA staff shape
and prepare the program for the volunteers and local children,as well
as participate in and even lead teams to travel to different areas
of the country to conduct outreach projects. Such projects include
helping recruit campers from local communities, grassroots community
outreach pioneered by local youth leaders, and family education workshops. You
will also be expected to play an active role in the Volunteer Training
Program preceding the Country Program, which may include specific programming
responsibilities.
Returning volunteers should expect a different
application process. Though your application is shorter,it focuses
on your achievements in past programs, interactions and goals with
AYUDA throughout the whole year, and your reflections on your role
within the volunteer program. A word of warning: the applicant pool
gets more and more competitive every year, so please put your best
effort into answering the questions thoughtfully. Demonstrate your
commitment and passion, and give concrete ideas on how you will contribute
to the team's success. We are honored that you would choose to return
to AYUDA, and we would like to extend special reduced fundraising
requirements for our Returners, reflected in your higher position responsibilities.
