AYUDA Volunteer Programs

        Diverse Programs

AYUDA's Country Programs each have a unique design, based on the individual needs of the country in which we work. The volunteer team collaborates with our international partners to conduct local outreach projects, youth-led leadership seminars, family workshops, train-the-trainer courses, and diabetes camps for children. In cases in which volunteers have exhibited the potential for extraordinary leadership, they may also participate in camp exchanges.

Volunteer Exchanges

AYUDA utilizes its broad contacts throughout diabetes communities in Latin America and the US to facilitate diabetes exchanges for youth leaders between North America and South America. These exchanges serve two purposes. First, they provide each participant with the opportunity to learn and experience the methodology taught at other camps. Second, they empower participants to take a more active role in their local diabetes community while striving to incorporate the skills and techniques they learned abroad. It has been AYUDA's experience that the participants of these exchanges have demonstrated an increased dedication to improving the lives of local people living with diabetes, strengthening their national diabetes organizations, and striving to create tangible change on the international level.

If you are interested in engaging in an exchange program, please contact the Global Program Director, Merith Basey, at mbasey@ayudainc.net
