Campo Amigo Dominican Republic Program
Team up with the Fundación Aprendiendo a Vivir to:
• Train with Dominican leaders at empowerment pre-camp
• Learn about Dominican culture and Spanish language through a home-stay experience
• Conduct workshops and outreach work in various provinces
• Carry out the first national diabetes camp, Campo Amigo Dominicano (CADR)
Training: Volunteer Training Program (VTP) in Washington, DC: May 29-31
Volunteers will collaborate with a team of Dominican youth leaders at an empowerment pre-camp while planning and preparing for camp in Santo Domingo. Then, before camp, they will conduct grassroots provincial outreach projects and workshops in which they educate and motivate children with diabetes and their families. Finally, the culminating project is Campo Amigo, where participants learn critical life skills to manage their diabetes and are able to socially integrate with other children just like them.
