Making a Difference for Children Living with Diabetes

Empowering Youth to serve as agents of change

in diabetes communities around the world

Children living with diabetes face many social, physiological, and economic challenges. Although there is no cure for diabetes, it can be managed with the proper education and resources. AYUDA's programs aim to provide children and adolescents living with diabetes in the developing world the education and empowerment they need to live happy, healthy, and long lives as leaders in the international community. AYUDA accomplishes its mission by empowering volunteers to travel abroad and serve as leaders in our country programs .

OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

As a volunteer organization, AYUDA is unique because it was founded by and is now run by youth seeking to help other youth (and their families) with diabetes. AYUDA recruits volunteers who are interested in working directly with the diabetes communities in the Americas . Volunteers are drawn to AYUDA because of their interest in any of the following: diabetes, youth leadership, and Latin America.

Volunteers range in age and experience from high-school students to medical professionals. AYUDA's motto, "Juntos somos mas fuertes!" "Together we are stronger!" is based on teamwork. AYUDA builds teams of volunteers and sends them to work with local diabetes communities support groups to provide education to children and adolescents with diabetes. AYUDA is most committed to helping local communities run diabetes camps because AYUDA was founded on the belief that a strong diabetes camping program is the keystone of an effective diabetes association, foundation, or support group. WHY AYUDA?

AYUDA is unique because it is centered on the idea that youth can act as agents for positive change for other youth. Through our innovative approach we give hope to youth living in Latin America, either through their local association or through educational programs that provide the tool for children living with diabetes so they realize they are not alone and are inspired to become advocates for themselves.   Learn More...
